Un week-end avec les enfants!

Comme vous le savez peut-etre, Rebecca et Yohann et leur famille se préparent à venir habiter dans notre region ou Yohann a accepté un poste.

Ils ont eu la gentillesse de nous prêter leurs enfants pour une nuit et une journée

Ils ont été absolument adorables!

Guillaume a 4 ans et Estelle va bientôt avoir 2 ans!


Et avec des enfants aussi beaux et intelligents...Rebecca et Yohann ont bien raison d'avoir une famille nombreuse- Rebecca est enceinte de son 3ième!

la nouvelle coupe

L'autre soir , nous avons décidé qu'il était temps pour tous les deux de se payer une nouvelle coupe.

David a depuis longtemps perdu espoir et ne me laisse plus couper ses cheveux :(

Bon...pas de grands changements....mais toutes ces photos, c'est parce que David pense que son menton est trop gros dans toutes les photos que nous prenons- moi je le trouve beau!

Six mois déjà!

Pour célébrer notre sixième mois de mariage, nous avons décidé de faire du ski de fond dans le magnifique parc provincial près de chez nous. Cette photo est "l'avant"...."l'après" n'en valait pas la peine! On n'est décidemment pas fait pour les sports de glisse!

Si vous suivez nos nouvelles, vous etes au courant que David a décidé de participer dans un demi marathon au mois de mai. Avec grand espoir de courrir à l'extérieur, il a fallut qu'il calcule ses distances par internet...vive la technologie! ( il faut que je le taquine...il me fait bien rire)

This is just a post to tease my sweetheart...in his desire to train for his half marathon, he has designed a high tech way of calculating his distances! ( We cannot apply it yet as it has been JUST TOO COLD!)

Happy Valentine's Day

Sarah and I enjoyed our first valentine's day together in style. On the Saturday before we went to a church party/dance with a couple of friends of ours. We first met Georges and Fanny when we went to their house with the missionaries a couple months ago. Now we've become good friends and enjoyed this opportunity to have chocolate fondue with them. On the 14th, I presented Sarah with some flowers and we went to a fantastic eastern African restaurant. I love being able to eat both the plate and the food with my hands! Well, it wasn't really the plate, but it was the bread like thing the meat and veggies were served on. It was a great meal and I really loved the sweet card Sarah made for me. I married a girl with talent!

Dance classes

Pour Noël, David m'a offert des cours de dance avec lui....Nous allons pendant une heure tous les lundi soirs et nous apprenons une dance différente chaque semaine pour 7 semaines...nous ne sommes pas très gracieux encore...ça viendra avec le temps et la pratique.

For those of you who told us that dance classes were a cause of fights in your couple - you scare me for nothing. Dave is an absolute blast to dance with! Besides his natural talent, he is totally hilarious ! Thanks for this wonderful Christmas gift, I loveyou.

Le canal Rideau, Ottawa

Ce canal est connu pour être la plus longue patinoire gratuite. Comme il fait assez froid, le canal gelé est ouvert au public sur une distance d'environ 5 km en plein centre ville Ottawa. C'est très bien aménagé...mais il fait quand même un peu trop froid pour moi!

It was still a TAD too cold for me on Monday night...but it was tons of fun skating on the Rideau Canal, which is open for public skating for about 5km.

Breast Cancer

I had a great time preparing for a presentation on breast cancer for the women from our Church ward. We had a turn out of 30. You can find more out here

J'ai enseigné une classe sur le cancer du sein a un groupe de femmes de notre Eglise. J'ai été étonnée et très déçue de ne pas trouver de site web sur l'auto-examen des seins venant de France. Je vous encourage a visiter le site canadien.

Finally!

Ne vous y trompez pas: ce n'est pas parce que nous habitons au Canada qu'il y a beaucoup de neige! La neige est enfin tombée et nous sommes sortis pour jouer dedans avant que tout ne fonde. Et oui, le réchauffement de la planète nous affecte! Depuis que je suis au Canada ( je commence ma 9ième année) je n'ai eu de "Noël blanc" que 2 fois!

Bref, nous avons conduit jusqu'au Parc de la Gatineau et une fois que nous ne pouvions plus avancer en voiture- on a marché.

L'avantage de la neige fondante est que nous avons pu faire un bonhomme...la neige est "sèche" d'habitude et ne colle pas

We have had a brown winter so far...so it was nice to be able to get outside and have fun in this melting snow. The area is just beautiful, we are so lucky to be here!

Holiday Dinners

One of the best things about the holidays are all the wonderful meals we get to eat with people we love. This is our private Christmas Eve dinner.
On Christmas Day, we had dinner at the Charland home. He is the Bishop of our ward and his family has been great to us. Check out the beautiful cake we enjoyed there:
While in Montreal, we had dinner with the Couture family, Sergio and Emilie (who got engaged!) at the mission home. President and Sister Petion, the mission president in Montreal, are friends of the Sacutos from France.

New Year's Eve dinner was a beautiful meal by our friend Annie, enjoyed with the newly engaged couple, Emilie and Sergio.

La fête des rois

Perhaps a little bit of a strange tradition, but a tradition nonetheless. We celebrate the late arrival of the wisemen in Bethlehem buy eating a traditional cake which contains a "fève"( small decoration the size of a dry kidney bean). The lucky person who finds the "fêve" is proclaimed king. Just to make things extra fair and make sure there is not cheating, the youngest member of the party sits under the table and assigns the pieces of cake to the guests. Our friend Alexandre was our king and very diplomatically chose his mom to be his queen :)

Nous avons eu la chance d'aller passer du temps avec ma famille à Montréal. La neige a même été de la fête et nous nous sommes beaucoup amusés. C'est incroyable à quelle vitesse les enfants de Rebecca et Yohann grandissent- cette petite vidéo leur est entièrement dédiée!
No kidding, my favorite part of our holidays in Montréal , was playing with Estelle and Guillaume. They are so much fun! I can hardly wait till we have our own! (No- I am not pregnant yet).

Noel 2006

We are excited to spend our first Christmas together and wish we could spend it with all of you. We have enjoyed caroling, gift wrapping at the mall for charity and making sugar cookies. We love you all very much and hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas!

Spectacle

On Dec. 12th, David played a gig at a cafe in Ottawa with Dylan Morgan on bass. There wasn't a big crowd and the guitar kept going out of tune, but we had a fun night.
Le 12 décembre, David a joué dans un café avec son ami Dylan Moragn à la basse.Il n'y avait pas grande foule...mais on s'est bien amusés.

Le Restaurant du Parlement Canadien

Since September, David has been interning with Rob Merrifield, a Member of Parliament who is Chair of the Health Committee in the House of Commons and Co-Chair of the Canada-US Interparliamentary Group. Just before David's last week, Rob took us and the other two members of his staff, and their spouses, to dinner in the restaurant on the 6th floor of Parliament. If you ever get invited (its for Members of Parliament only), make sure you get the dessert buffet!

Depuis le mois de Septembre, David est en stage avec Rob Merrifield, un membre du parlement qui est président du comité pour la santé et vice-président du comité interparlementaire pour les Etats-Unis et le Canada. Dans la dernière semaine du stage de David, Rob a invité les membres de son bureau et leurs épouses au restaurant du parlement canadien. Si vous avez un jour la chance d'y aller (pour membres du parlement seulement)- gardez de la place pour le buffet de desserts!
